The Narrative
Thasang lies in the off-trek route of the Annapurna circuit, making it still an undiscovered destination in the mountains. The proximity to the Himalayas and the geographical location of Thasang will make you feel as though you can converse with the mountains straight from your heart. The rivers and lakes rejoicing in the untainted nature will rejuvenate and revitalise you with the mountain spirit.
Heritage
Hidden beyond the towering peaks of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, Mustang—traditionally known as the Kingdom of Lo—is a living archive of trans-Himalayan heritage. Founded around 1380 by the warrior-king Ame Pal, this high-altitude realm flourished for centuries as a vital trade corridor. Caravans routinely traversed the Kali Gandaki River gorge, exchanging Tibetan salt for Nepalese grain along the ancient salt route. Though annexed by Nepal at the end of the 18th century, Mustang’s profound geographic isolation shielded it from outside influence. Today, its rugged landscape of red cliffs, ancient monasteries, mysterious sky caves, and the walled city of Lo Manthang remains one of the world’s most beautifully preserved bastions of Tibetan-Buddhist culture.
Our Story
Lodge Thasang Village was created to bring travellers into the heart of the Annapurna circuit’s quiet, off-trek route — a still-undiscovered corner of the mountains in the shadow of the Nilgiri range. Built in the traditional Thakali style with local stone and timber, the lodge pairs authentic mountain hospitality with the warmth of modern comfort, offering a restful base from which to explore the Kali Gandaki valley.
